When I observe how much of an impact I’ve had in making our clients succeed and feel happy. One of my greatest achievements has been being able to gain a better understanding of what a young person needs and building my confidence in working with them.

My childhood hero is my uncle Franz who only recently passed away. As I was growing up, he would write to me practising English and I would reply practising my German. My uncle and I loved playing board games which made me feel special. A legacy of this special bond is a closeness with my cousins.

Nelson Mandela is my hero because he engaged in selfless and dedicated acts, by fighting to bring liberty and justice for his people, and risking his life for the equality of all. He also showed that hatred cannot be overcome by hatred but by empathy.
Working with CSA has been such an amazing opportunity for gaining experience and building professional rapport with young people and colleagues. Most importantly what gives me fulfilment in my role is going the extra mile, even if it means going over my shift hours, to ensure my young people are safe and to reassure them I’m working in their best interest and ensuring their welfare.

The opportunity to deliver interventions to young people by being a good role model. One of my greatest achievements was helping a young person go back to school and complete year 6.

I am an easygoing, friendly person who enjoys meeting new people. I enjoy sports and spending time with my loved ones. A time I felt accomplished with CSA was when I created a fitness plan used that was used as an outlet to aid with emotional and mental issues the young person was facing. Each shift I was on with him, I would run him through a program followed by a game of his choice. This aided in curbing his aggressive behaviours towards other clients and staff. And the rapport built with me enabled him to come to me with other issues that previously he wouldn’t have shared with anyone.

Being a Staff Engagement Officer has given me many fulfilment’s. In my role everyday, establishing meaningful relationships with my workers and team is phenomenal! I believe I’m a strong and independent individual. I feel as though being in this sector of work makes me relate to a lot of these young peoples needs from my experiences and my certain lived environment. To help and prepare them socially, mentally, physically and psychologically for their future. My mother and father are my childhood and to date still hero’s. They have taught me all my skills and knowledge in life to become the person I am today. Without those two individuals I would not be the strong, independent and confident person I am.

I am someone who is genuinely interested in helping other people and making others feel good about themselves. I am very content and I really believe I am going to do great things in the community services sector. I am passionate about young peoples rights, and believe that I can provide a positive space for young people to truly find some happiness. I am hopeful that I will combine my interests of supporting young people, and my love for sport to create an initiative or program that will further help these kids through the use of sport (not 100% what this may look like, but I’m working on it). I am absolutely loving my job, and see myself doing this for a long time 🙂

I like people, especially children. I am raising three children and I am very grateful for having and raising them. I am part of Community Staffing and I am making a positive impact on the young people in our care. This is a big part of who I am. The best job I have ever had really. I’m also a yoga loving Vegan and Animal Advocate, especially for rescue dogs. I enjoy walking my 2 naughty rescues and I also love reading. I sing in a duo and we play in venues around the Peninsula. I like making a difference to the young people in my care. Even if it’s just for a little while, I like to make them feel safe and comfortable enough to chat or even just sit quietly in peace. Often they will share something they are looking forward to or a little bit worried about. I like to uplift them and gently remind them how awesome they are. I love to see them go on with their day with a smile and belief in themselves.

Working with CSA has been such an amazing opportunity to gain experience and building professional rapports with the Young people and even with my colleagues. Most importantly what gives me fulfilment in my role is even going the extra mile even if it’s over my shift hours to ensure my young people are safe and to reassure them I’m there to help them in their best interest and welfare.

You try your best to always be nice and others. You are happy and fulfilled. Although you need to stop being so lazy since lockdown and get off the crouch as you watch way too much TV.
I was obsessed with the TV show Charmed. Besides the fact it was a cool supernatural tv show, it showed much more to that. The show was about family, to be nice and look out for others, that women can lead and that a career and education is important. It made me want to be good and do good.
Everything about the work I do with CSA gives me fulfilment. Even though it can be hard at times, it’s a privilege to be able to support young people and contribute in providing a safe and stable environment to hopefully help empower them to be able to have fulfilment in their lives.
